Apart from the many award-winning projects to testify to the quality of our work, Groundwork London was among the first Groundwork Trusts to achieve ISO 14001, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), in 2003. We are continuously improving our systems to incorporate metrics that feed directly into our business plan and projects on the ground. Our EMS is therefore fully integrated into our work and core areas of spend.
Over the past three years we have supported other Groundwork Trusts within the Federation to improve their environmental performance, and rolling out BS 8555, a phased approach to implementing Environmental Management Systems. We have supported over 30 Trusts to achieve this standard.
As part of our merger process into a single Groundwork Trust for London we are now widening the scope of our EMS in London to cover more of our sites. In the interim we are aligning all of our processes and systems to incorporate the best practice that we have developed over the last five years.
