How to contact our team
We believe that young people are part of the solution to improving disadvantaged areas. We help them participate in their communities and provide a range of positive activities, building confidence and self-esteem.
We also work with schools and colleges to support ‘at risk’ young people, providing them with positive experiences and building the skills that will allow them to move forward with education or training.
Location: Hanwell, London The Playscape approach illustrates how the entire landscape can offer play value rather than simply relying on springy chickens, rubber impact surfacing and bow top fencing.
Location: Southwark Groundwork London runs exciting music projects at The Hub and gives young people the opportunity to develop skills in music technology, song-writing, singing and recording. They have the chance to explore a range of musical styles and genres through workshops and group discussions.
Location: Windmill Park Estate The Windmill Park Estate, home to a high proportion of young people, was identified as a place with a distinct lack of positive leisure activities. This led to instances of antisocial behaviour and the whole estate becoming a designated Metropolitan Police dispersal area. Since January 2009, Groundwork London’s Sporting Chances project has provided weekly football activity sessions on the estate. This has led to some of the young people becoming qualified football coaches, who have since gone on to lead the sessions themselves, as well as forming their own football club.
Location: Larkhall, London This project helped residents of Stewarts Road, Larkhall to deliver sustainable Healthy Lifestyle Projects for young people and children in the area.
Location: London Our New Horizons programme is providing young ex-offenders aged between 16 and 25 years old with voluntary work experience and routes back into sustainable training and employment.
Location: Lambeth Groundwork London worked with the Friends of Kennington Park and Borough of Lambeth to design and implement an innovative nature and history trail for Kennington Park.
Location: West London The Future Footprints project works with young people aged 16 to 25 years in deprived neighbourhoods in Hammersmith and Fulham, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to become advocates for action on climate change.
Location: East London Through a programme of local and global volunteering, Roots n’ Wings supports young people aged 17-25 not in education, training or employment in East London to make a positive contribution to their communities and achieve economic success.
