How to contact our team
Groundwork London works with community groups to make changes to local places across the country. Often where we work depends on funding and our capacity, but it is always worth contacting us to see what we can do in your area. Our work includes:
We also run a number of grant schemes that your community could be eligible for. Follow the links below to find out more:
Location: Westminster Groundwork London supported residents on the Ebury Bridge Estate in Westminster to expand the gardening club membership and run planting sessions to improve the available outdoor space on the estate and provide provision for food growing and access to healthy eating.
Location: Westminster, London Groundwork London were commissioned to create a new Nature Area in Paddington Recreation Ground by Westminster City Council as part of their Capital Programme with the aim of addressing an identified deficiency in access to wildlife in the local area, highlighted in the London Plan and WCC’s Unitary Development Plan (UDP), Open Space Strategy and Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP).
Location: Southwark, London Aylesbury Gardens is a community garden for residents to grow their own produce and have a safe place to meet each other and socialise. The space was constructed by participants in a Groundwork employment scheme called The Green Team that provides practical horticulture experience, training and qualifications.
Location: West Camberwell, London In West Camberwell, Blucher Road, a passage linking Camberwell Road and Comber Grove was identified as a dismal site that could be brightened up. It is a well used route including a main walk way to and from Comber Grove Primary School.
Location: Southwark, London In an area that had been causing concern for sometime amongst local residents, an inter-generational community art project took place aided by Groundwork London to brighten up dark doorways of the Browning Estate.
Location: Camden, London “Handbuilt” challenged the perceptions of different generations by bringing them together to work on a creative art project. Community artists ‘Face2Face’ worked with a group of young and older people to help them make casts of their own hands.
Location: Lambeth, London Groundwork London has been working in partnership with the Streatham Vale Park Friends of Group, London Borough of Lambeth, and the users of Streatham Vale Park since 2006. During this time, consultations with the community have lead to physical improvements being made to the park, which have increased access and safety.
Location: Haringey, London The Haringey Time Bank was launched by Groundwork London in 2007 to encourage people to help each other by rewarding them for their time. For every hour of time given helping someone, one time credit is received. The Time Bank also runs fun, free activities in partnership with the local community.
Location: Honchurch, Havering Abbs Cross Community Group, with the support of Groundwork London created a fantastic community garden that provides residents of all ages with a place to sit, relax and play in.
Location: Southwark St Johns Catholic School in Southwark received their Green Flag award in a special assembly on the morning of the 9th December 2009. This award marks the school’s hard work and commitment to having a green ethos and making practical changes to how they behave. Groundwork London helped implement these changes through utilising the schools outdoor spaces showing pupils how to compost and recycle.
